TEMPERANCE .22
Temperance Is Restraint As A Practiced Discipline.
The quietest round, made quieter — and the entry point into the philosophy. A genuinely small, light titanium silencer proving how much quiet a compact package can hold. At its core is a unique eccentric baffle design: offsetting the geometry throws the gas into deliberate disruption, giving it more room and time to cool for a substantial drop in signature.
That efficiency carries Temperance well past the rimfire bench. It threads directly to a 1/2×28 muzzle — no adapter needed — with wrench flats for easy tool-up, and a hollowed mounting end that adds expansion volume while keeping the profile tiny. Four inches, three ounces. Start here.

Recommended Firing Schedule
Published in the SAAMI Z299.6 format. A rating is a schedule, not an adjective — below are the cartridges, barrel lengths and firing cadences the TEMPERANCE .22 is built to run, and the round count at which it needs to cool.
| CARTRIDGE | MIN. BARREL | MAX. CADENCE | ROUNDS BEFORE COOLING |
|---|---|---|---|
| .22 LR | — | 60 rpm | 300 |
| .22 LR | — | Cyclic | 150 |
| .22 Mag | — | 60 rpm | 100 |
| .17 WSM | — | 30 rpm | 100 |
| 5.7×28 | — | 60 rpm | 100 |
| 5.7×28 | — | Cyclic | 50 |
| .223 Rem / 5.56 NATO — bolt action only | 16 in. | 10 rpm | 20 |
What “cool” means. A temperature, not a wait time. Point an infrared thermometer at the outside of the silencer, and when it reads 150 °F or less, go again. How long that takes depends on the day.
Shooting something we didn’t list? If it’s the same bore size or smaller than a cartridge in the table and it carries less energy, you can run it at that row’s numbers. If nothing in the table covers it, you’re outside the schedule — give us a call and ask.
What if you go past it? Nothing in this table is a cliff. There’s no round count where the silencer stops being safe, and we’re not going to pretend there is. These are simply the numbers we’ll stand behind. Run well past them and break something, and that damage isn’t covered — and we work that out by looking at the silencer, not by asking you what you were doing with it.
Why .223 is bolt action only. The TEMPERANCE will take the cartridge — it’s a tiny tank. In .22 LR it will run at cyclic, and there’s a row above that says so. Centerfire is a different animal: a gas gun invites a pace we won’t rate on this silencer. Work a bolt and you can’t get there. If you want a silencer for a semi-automatic 5.56, we build one — it’s called the FORTITUDE.
The rest of it — the full schedule, the cleaning a rimfire can needs, what to look for — is in the owner’s manual.
